Carrier diversity means using more than one network provider. Physical path diversity means those connections enter the building, travel through conduits, use meet-me rooms, and reach upstream networks through separate physical routes. Two carriers might still share the same building entrance, conduit, fiber path, or upstream dependency. A resilient design should validate both carrier diversity and physical path diversity.
No. SD-WAN manages traffic across existing connections, but the underlying circuits still provide network access. SD-WAN can improve application routing, visibility, failover, and policy control. It does not remove the need to evaluate carrier performance, bandwidth, physical diversity, service levels, and circuit reliability.
